This is Google's new operating system designed specifically for low-end phones or that do not pack as much RAM as other expensive phones.

It wasn't always like this.

These apps are likely to lack some features found on their full-fat Android equivalents.

You don't get features such as a HD display or fingerprint scanner, but the lightweight version of Android and Google's apps gives hopes to those with a small budget wanting a smartphone. The Android Go phone already appears on the company's official USA website, but it's listed as Sold Out for the time being. With Social Square, users can review recently captured photos in one half of the screen, while the camera viewfinder remains active in the other half, while Instant Collage fills in a pre-set arrangement one by one with camera shots, and Photo Booth offers a strip of four shots in a row. Google expanded the scope of Android One in 2015 with the Infinix Hot 2 X510, which first launched in Nigeria and later arrived in Cameroon, Egypt, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Morocco, and Uganda. The hotspots will launch later this year for respectively Euro 180 and Euro 100. We're still waiting for word on United Kingdom pricing.

Android Go lands its first smartphone in super cheap handset Alcatel 1X.

The upcoming phone sports a 5.3-inch 960 by 480 18:9 display. Samat explained some key differences on the two programs and said that going forward the idea was to have a Go edition for every version of Android. The first one is it's smart, so it'll have a really simple UI. The 13Mp front-facing camera is wide-angle, so you'll be able to capture yourself and plenty of the background.

Alcatel launches five smartphones and two Android Oreo tablets at MWC 2018
Last spring, Google took on a challenge to rework Android and have the software running smoothly on lower-end devices. Both the low-end tablets run quad-core MediaTek MT8321 processors with 1GB of RAM and 8GB/16GB of internal storage.

It's also about the hardware itself.

After the news that Samsung, annoyingly, would not be utilising Project Treble - Google's concerted attempt to separate core Android from supplier and carrier skins - for Oreo as is required under Google's license, many were expecting the S9 to go the same way.

With the Android Oreo Go edition, applications and features are optimised to be smaller in size, meaning less storage requirements and offering Alcatel 1X customers more storage space out of the box.

Meanwhile, Google's own Pixel line superceded Google's Nexus range to serve as the company's own flagship phones. As a special launch offer, the company is offering a free one-time screen replacement if the device's screen breaks within one year from the date of purchase.

Android OneFollowing the 2017 launches from HTC, Kyocera, Motorola, Sharp, and Xiaomi, we added several new devices to our global Android One portfolio. Google used this moment to tout the growing strength and widening breadth of its brand.

On the software side of things is where the phone truly shines.
