Police in Japan say they've found a severed head belonging to a missing woman

A 26-year-old American tourist in Japan is being questioned for the murder of an unidentified Japanese woman, after her severed head was found in his suitcase.

Japanese police investigating the discovery of a woman's severed head have reportedly uncovered several other body parts in different locations, acting on information from an American in custody over her disappearance.

He has been identified in local media as Yevgeniy Vasilievich Bayraktar, a 26-year-old from NY.

The woman from Sanda, Hyogo Prefecture, was reported missing after she told a friend she was meeting a man she met on a "social networking site" before leaving for Osaka.

Video footage taken by a surveillance camera at the first apartment showed the man and the woman entering the building together.

During his stay for about a week from February 12 at the Higashinari lodging, security camera footage showed four or five women entering the premises with a man believed to be the suspect, the sources said.

Police have searched locales based on his accounts and found dismembered body parts in mountainous areas in Osaka and Kyoto.

Some netizens questioned her fashion choice and even asked Versace why they didn't dress her in one of their suits instead.

Bayraktar is believed to have used dating apps to communicate with a number of women since his arrival in Japan in January. Police believe the parts belong to the same woman, the outlet reported.

The woman went missing after she left her workplace in Sanda on February 15.

Bayraktar, by contrast, was filmed leaving and returning to the building several times - on at least one occasion, he carried a travel bag.

Meanwhile, on the northern island of Hokkaido, police arrested a third man in connection with another missing woman whose decapitated head was discovered at the weekend, Kyodo said.

The man, who lives in NY, had arrived as a tourist in Osaka in January, the Asahi Shimbun daily reported.

He traveled from his home in NY to Japan last month, where he claimed to have planned a sightseeing trip.
