Deputy killed, 4 others wounded in Colorado Springs

A Colorado sheriff's deputy and a suspect were killed and four others, including three law enforcement officers, were wounded on Monday in a shooting that sprang from an auto theft investigation, officials said.

"Our thoughts are with the family of El Paso County Sheriff's Deputy Micah Flick and the three wounded officers", Democrat Michael Bennet said. Monday, February 5 was his 11 year anniversary with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.

One woman whose husband worked with Deputy Flick remembered him fondly. A civilian was hit during the incident, along with three El Paso County Sheriff's deputies and one Colorado Springs Police officer.

Gumm, 31, was shot while chasing a suspect.

Authorities said all of the suspects have been accounted for, however they did not say what that means.

The suspect in this case was killed, according to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.

They say Deputy Micah Flick was shot while responding to a motor vehicle theft investigation. The suspect was not named, but died at the scene. We are also praying for the other deputies and the officer who were also involved.

Despite the fear of reprisals, millions of women in Iran defy the restrictions on a daily basis. The woman was identified as Vida Movahed, a 31-year-old woman.

He leaves behind a wife and 7-year-old twins (one boy and one girl), the sheriff's office said.

"This is indeed a hard day for our agencies", Carey said.

Later, the El Paso sheriff announced a procession for the slain deputy would begin at the El Paso County Coroner's Office at 7:30 p.m.

Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper ordered that flags be flown at half-staff at public buildings across the state beginning Tuesday and lasting until sunset on the day of Flick's funeral.

"We want each officer, every deputy, to know we are grateful for their service", the governor said.

Hickenlooper said in a written statement that the deadly violence against officers is having a chilling impact and the state "must come together and say enough is enough".

The Associated Press notes that Monday's shooting took place in a neighborhood of single-family homes, apartments and retail stores just east of downtown Colorado Springs, a city of about 465,000.
