The U.S. officials say the administration won't impose on the Israelis or Palestinians to accept the plan, but may release it so the parties and global community can judge it at face value.

The U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees is asking Arab nations for financial support after the Trump administration cut tens of millions of dollars of aid money. The US is the largest donor, providing a third of the total budget. Their demand for a two-state solution is supported by the United Nations and nearly all of its 193 member-states.

Following the move, Abbas stated that America could no longer be a neutral arbiter in Middle East peace talks between Palestinians and Israelis, with the 81-year-old Arab leader turning to other avenues of support such as the EU.

They also hailed Egypt's Al-Azhar global conference for backing Jerusalem as the main capital of occupied Palestine, under the auspices of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.

This in order to adopt the peace process, the State of Palestine's efforts to gain full membership in the United Nations and join global organizations and conventions in order to strengthen its legal and worldwide status.

The ministers reaffirmed their support for Palestine to obtain full membership at the United Nations, and called for mobilizing worldwide support for this issue.

He also canceled a meeting last month with U.S. Vice President Mike Pence, who had traveled to the region.

"Some 200 Palestinians gathered at the entrance of East Jerusalem's Al-Issawiya neighborhood to protest U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to recognize the city as Israel's capital", Amjad Abu Assab, head of the Jerusalem Committee for the Families of Prisoners, an NGO, told Anadolu Agency.

On December 21, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) overwhelmingly passed a non-binding resolution condemning Trump's decision.

Hundreds of protesters took to the streets to denounce the American announcement on Jerusalem in different cities across the world.
