The chief executive of EasyJet, Johan Lundgren, will take a voluntary pay cut to match that of his predecessor as the budget airline highlights its commitment to equal pay and equal opportunity for women and men.

Lundgren was reportedly given a £740,000 ($AUD 1.29m) salary when he joined the company, while McCall was believed to be earning £706,000 ($AUD 1.23m) when she left her role in November 2017.

EasyJet's CEO Johan Lundgren is cutting his own salary by £34,000. "I want that to apply to everybody at easyJet and to show my personal commitment I have asked the Board to reduce my pay to match that of Carolyn's when she was at easyJet".

The decision of top executive of low-priced airline occurs days after six BBC star presenters also chose to reduce ir salaries to combat wage gap in Public Broadcasting Corporation, which summer Past made public wages of best-paid presenters.

Walmart already delivers groceries in Japan through its Seiyu supermarket chain, which it acquired more than a decade ago. Fresh food delivery has been around in Japan for decades but has lagged the growth seen in other areas of e-commerce.

So let's call this an important start - both in message and in action - aimed at keeping the critical conversation going. But, as company explains in statement, this is because vast majority of its pilots are men, and ir salary is much higher than that of cabin crew and or employees. In all other respects his remuneration package is identical to his predecessor. EasyJet has already gone further than other airlines in trying to attract more women into a career as a pilot.

The former deputy chief of travel group Tui released a statement explaining the decision. The salaries ate decided in consensus with union are men and women are eqally paid. Out of the 704 employers who had shared pay figures so far, easyJet had the third-largest mean gender pay gap.

But the company said: "We recognize we need to do better".

Only 5 percent of easyJet's pilots are women, but the airline is looking to hire women for 20 percent of its new pilot jobs by 2020. We set a target that 20% of new pilots should be female by 2020, up from 6% in 2015.
