Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Russia Monday for talks focused on Syria, but warned Israel would not accept what he called Iran's growing military presence there and in Lebanon. He told reporters following the meeting that he made clear that Israel will not allow Iran to manufacture or deploy missiles in Lebanon; or turn Syria into a military base for the benefit of Iran.

Netanyahu, who has traveled to Russia to meet with Putin six times in the past two years, said he and Putin "meet periodically in order to ensure the military coordination between the Israel Defense Forces and the Russian forces in Syria; as of today this has succeeded and it is important that it continue to succeed".

Netanyahu was accompanied by the head of Military Intelligence Maj. Gen. Ronen Manelis posted a rare op-ed on Sunday in several Arabic-language websites, warning Lebanon of Iran's entrenchment.

Israel's Permanent Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, said there are 82,000 fighters under Iran's authority in Syria. He said Iran is stockpiling in Lebanon precision missiles against Israel.

That according to the Lebanese newspaper A-Diyar, which reported that Putin promised to pass the message along to Israel.

The visit has been confirmed by the Prime Minister's Office. The prime minister said this is "also our mission today" and the reason he came to Russian Federation: "our common efforts to promote security and stability in our region". "I think that the main lesson of the rise of the Nazis and, afterwards, their defeat, is that one needs to take a strong and timely stand against murderous ideologies". The meeting is expected to be held at the JMTC (Jewish Museum and Tolerance Centre). Russian Federation categorically rejects any such attempt.

Putin gave Netanyahu as a gift a letter the German industrialist Oskar Schindler, who save some 1,200 Jews during the Holocaust, sent to his wife.

"I very much appreciate this invitation and your personal attendance in this place on this day, that reflects our common struggle against the greatest evil that humanity has known", Netanyahu said.
