Michigan State AD Mark Hollis announces resignation

Michigan State did not tell federal investigators about Nassar allegations report

The pressure on Michigan State was illustrated by the resignation of the school's president, Lou Anna Simon, just hours after the sentencing.

Earlier Friday, MSU athletic director Mark Hollis announced his retirement.

"I'm here tonight to say that any accusations of my handling of any complaints of sexual assault individually are completely false", Dantonio said. "This is a choice Nancy and I made". The school continued to employ him after he was the subject of a sexual assault investigation in 2014. On Friday, Hollis was asked about the conversation he had with Klages.

Searing victim testimony during former American gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar's sentencing hearing has ratched up pressure on the sport's USA governing body and Michigan State University to settle civil lawsuits by girls and women seeking to hold them responsible for his years of sexual abuse, legal experts said.

Some of the nation's top gymnasts, including Olympians Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney, Simone Biles and Jordyn Wieber, said they were among Nassar's victims.

He just held a press conference to announce the news.

Hollis graduated from the university in 1985. They commissioned former FBI Director Louis Freeh to investigate how a university employee - for years one of Paterno's most trusted and loyal assistants - could abuse boys for so long.

The evisceration of Michigan State University in the wake of the Larry Nassar scandal continues.

NHTSA also investigated the 2016 crash and concluded that there was no "defect in design or performance" of the Autopilot system. This allows drivers to hand over certain tasks, such as lane keeping assistance, to the vehicle's onboard computers.

No one has been charged in the scandal besides Nassar.

"My heart breaks, my heart breaks thinking about the incomprehensible pain all of them and their families have experienced (caused by Nassar)", Hollis said. There simply aren't the right words to express our sympathy. "Now is a time to say that no more do sexual assaults or sexual abuse have a place on our campus or any campus in our nation".

"If that means holding people accountable, seeking out truth and bringing things to the light that's what we are here to do and we're here to make sure that this will never happen again". But to do so, we must listen and learn lessons.

The university released a statement saying that Hollis, who began working for the school's athletic department in the year 1995, will retire on Wednesday, January 31st. "Our first priority has always been and will always be their health and safety". They are at the core of our athletic department mission statement. Values such as respect, accountability, and perhaps most importantly integrity, have served as a foundation through good times and bad - perhaps at no time more than the last few days.

He went on to say he consulted with his family, colleagues, student athletes and more, and announced his retirement. I have always been a Spartan, and always will be.

Peter Henning, a law professor at Wayne State University in Michigan, said sovereign immunity protections are substantial and could lead a judge to dismiss numerous claims against Michigan State. 'I look forward to implementing a plan today at our board meeting to create real change'.

"I don't want anyone to perceive that I'm walking away", Hollis said. "Let me be clear, in retirement, I will fully cooperate" with investigations into MSU by NCAA and MI attorney general office.

At the university board's meeting, chairman Brian Breslin said it was "clear that MSU has not been focused enough on the victims".
