Swiss Mummy Identified as Ancestor of Boris Johnson

A mummified body dug up in Switzerland in 1975 has been identified as Boris Johnson’s great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandmother

Their research revealed a new surprise: the woman is the great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandmother of UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson. Genetic material extracted from the big toe of the mummy was compared to DNA donated by modern members of the Bischoff family.

She was buried right in front of the altar, clearly well fed, and wearing good quality clothes.

Another clue: her body was riddled with mercury - a standard treatment for syphilis from the late 15th to the 19th Century.

DNA extracted from the mummy's big toe gave an nearly certain probability she was Anna Catharina Bischoff of Basel born 1719, and died 1787. No gravestone was found, however, only the wealthy were buried inside the church.

The body was preserved with a high level of mercury which is often a sign that person has been treated for syphills. A 99.8 per cent match was found and the relationship to the Johnson family was confirmed by records of births, deaths and marriages.

Her daughter, also named Anna, married into the Von Pfeffel family, whose heritage is evident in the Foreign Secretary's full name: Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson.

Pennsylvania court upholds gerrymandering charge
Pennsylvania was a key Rust Belt state that helped Donald Trump capture the White House in the 2016 presidential election . The special election in the 18th District, scheduled for March is not impacted by this order.

It is reported she had seven kids but only two survived childhood.

Five generations of von Pfeffels later, and Marie Luise von Pfeffel married Stanley Fred Williams.

She lived in Strasbourg with her church minister husband for much of her adult like.

She had contracted syphilis, probably from treating sufferers of the disease. Their daughter Yvonne married Osman Wilfred Johnson Kemal and their son, Stanley Johnson, went on to have Mr Johnson.

The foreign secretary has not yet commented on the discovery, but is known for his worldwide ancestry.

She died in 1787 at the age of 68, from mercury poisoning, scientists believe. Rosemary Brobst-Rhyner is another of her descendants.
