The changes are welcomed by many who believe Facebook has become an array of adverts and videos, however it also means that posts from smaller, local companies will be much less prominent as you scroll through your newsfeed.

According to social media experts, the change will see posts from friends, family and groups get prioritized over posts from businesses, brands and media.

The goal is to figure out the fact whether a news source is trusted by its followers and regular readers only, or the source is considered trustworthy by other people also.

With Instagram measured alongside Facebook and Twitter, Nielsen now tracks content viewership across three of the largest social networks. "It will only shift the balance of news you see towards sources that are determined to be trusted by the community", Zuckerberg noted. Thereafter users will be asked to what extent they trust each of the presented domains on a sliding scale from "entirely", through "a lot", "somewhat" and "barely" to "not at all". In a similar effort, Facebook has started taking a two-question survey with interested participants to gauge their trust in publications.
