Instagram launches new 'last active' feature

Now you can stalk people on Instagram since the new update allows you see when users were last active.

Instagram now shows users when people they follow or those they've chatted with were last active on the social media site. There, you can see small timestamps showing the last time someone you chatted with visited Instagram.

All the other Facebook-owned apps like Messenger and WhatsApp already had this feature.

If this new Instagram "Show Activity Status" feature isn't for you, you can turn it off in settings.

First off, access your profile page, tap the settings gear, and head to the "Edit Profile" option, where you will find a toggle next to the option "Show Activity Status". Now Instagram has joined the bandwagon with a similar feature, called Activity Status.

Luckily, there is a way to get rid of the new feature.

He said: "It's no secret that our relations are at a low point and that's not at our initiative". He said: "I am a Russophile, a committed Russophile".

With the latest update, Instagram now shows a line with the user's activity status right under their username, indicating the last time the user was active on the platform.

Just like on Facebook and other such apps, however, it goes both ways. So for any of you who have the test feature on you Insta app, here's a very simple way to hide it.

The default setting for the app is "on" - meaning your closest friends can know exactly when you've been scrolling through their feeds.

While it's a cool new feature, I guarantee there are some of you who want to keep your Instagram viewing activity private, even from those you follow. If they are looking at a profile of someone who follows them but they don't follow, the profile will show "follow back" option instead of just 'follow'.

The new feature has been enabled on Thursday for iOS and Android devices.
