Rahul Gandhi is visiting Amethi for the first time after being elevated to Congress President's post.

Meanwhile, BJP spokesman Manish Shukla questioned as to why Rahul Gandhi did not meet party workers of his constituency which created a stampede like situation.

Enroute Amethi, Rahul Gandhi began a two-day trip to his Lok Sabha constituency by offering prayers at Churwa Hanuman Temple in his mother Sonia Gandhi's constituency of Rae Bareli.

Before leaving for Amethi, he addressed a nukkad sabha at Salon, criticising the Modi government over the plight of potato farmers, the GST, unemployment and "step motherly treatment" meted out to Amethi and Rae Bareli.

Later, he will drive straight to Amethi and take some rest at the Munshiganj guest house.

He further said Rahul Gandhi should utilize his energy in the development of the nation.

Yogi said, "What are SP workers doing these days".
