4 powerlifters killed, world champion Saksham Yadav injured in Delhi car crash

The incident came to light after police received information from passerby regarding the accident near Singhu Border at around 4:14 am on Sunday.

"This morning six athletes were going from Delhi to Panipat in their vehicle, carrying their powerlifting kits, when they met with the accident at Alipur village, near Singhu border between Delhi and Haryana", a police official said. The victims were on the Delhi-Panipat highway in a Swift Dzire auto which police believe was being driven at high speed in drastically reduced visibility due to fog.

Of the five deceased, the four who died on the spot have been identified as Tikamchand alias Tinka, 27, a bouncer by profession, Saurabh, 18, a helper in a gym, Yogesh, 24, a private video camera operator, and Harish Roy, 20, a student.

Four players died while Yadav and another weightlifter were seriously injured.

Indian national accused of sex assault on U.S. flight
Both Ramamoorthy and his wife gave lengthier statements later indicating that the pill Ramamoorthy had taken was "plain Tylenol". But the prosecutor said that "flight attendants did not report that anyone asked them to change seats other than the victim".

Yadav and Rohit were rushed to Max Hospital in Delhi's Shalimar Bagh. "He has internal bleeding in the head", said a senior doctor at AIIMS. The impact of the accident was so brutal that the roof of the auto was completely blown off. While Rohit, one of the victims who suffered grievous injuries was taken to LNJP Hospital where his condition is stated to be out of danger. All of them were residents of north Delhi's Timarpur.

The vehicle, the athletes were travelling in, first hit a road divider before crashing into an electric police, police said.

"Prima facie, the auto was at a very high speed". The accident took place when the weightlifters were returning to Delhi.
