Before Kulbhushan Jadhav's wife and mother were allowed to enter the Foreign Office building in Islamabad to meet with him, Pakistani authorities made them remove their mangalsutras, bangles and bindis, and also made them change their attire, India said December 26, slamming the meeting conducted across a glass panel as "lacking in credibility" and "intimidating".

Foreign Office Director India desk Dr Fareha was also present during the meeting.

Jadhav's mother and wife had a restricted interaction with him for 40 minutes, separated by a glass screen, at the heavily guarded building of the Pakistani foreign office in Islamabad.

Pakistan's public relations (PR) pitch coming ahead of the top United Nations court, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) begins to hear India's appeal against Jadhav's death sentence took new heights, when its Foreign Office not only made meeting of mother Avanti and wife Chetana with a death-row prisoner a media spectacle, but also used the occasion to release his second video and a medical report showing him healthy and fit.

Mr. Jadhav and the family members spoke in a highly secured room, from either side of a glass partition.

Many Pakistanis also felt outraged at authorities' organising the "family reunion" for a man whom the officials dubbed as India's "face of terror". She was repeatedly interrupted while doing so and eventually prevented from proceeding further with it.

Pakistani authorities also refused to return the shoes that Jadhav's wife had worn, Kumar said, warning against potential mischief.

The Congress leader also said that the flip-flop strategy of the government towards Pakistan was making the atmosphere very insecure for the people of India and the soldiers at the border.

New Delhi and Islamabad had reached a clear agreement that media would not be allowed "close access" to the wife and mother of Jadhav during their visit to Pakistan. The MEA further noted: "Most of his (Jadhav's) remarks were clearly tutored and created to perpetuate the false narrative of his alleged activities in Pakistan".

"The Pakistani press was allowed on multiple occasions to approach family members closely, harass and hector them and hurl false and loaded accusations about (Shri) Jadhav", Kumar said in a statement. His appearance also raises questions of his health and well-being, " External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said in a strongly-worded statement on Tuesday.

Jadhav's family stopped over at the Indian high commission after arriving in Islamabad on an Emirates flight from Dubai on Monday morning. The meeting started without his presence and he could join only after pressing the matter with concerned officials.

"I requested a meeting with my wife and mother and I am thankful to government of Pakistan for this grand gesture", he said.

The party said the Indian government should immediately come up with a clear policy towards Pakistan. They have shown disrespect towards Indian women.

He was awarded death sentence by a military court on April 10 this year for reportedly working for India's external intelligence agency Research and Analytical Wing or RAW and being involved with espionage and sabotage in Pakistan.

Despite the death verdict, Pakistan last week reiterated that he was not under threat of an immediate execution as his mercy petitions were still pending.

"We condemn this conduct of the Pakistani authorities".

New Delhi says Jadhav was kidnapped in Iran where he had legitimate business interests, and brought to Pakistan.
