APNewsBreak Carey returns to ‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve

The pop diva confirmed that she will return to Times Square in NY to ring in 2018, a year after she was humiliated by technical issues at the annual televised ball-drop.

The music superstar will no doubt be very prepared for the upcoming gig, after last year's complications, where sound problems plagued the concert, beginning with her take on the New Year's Eve classic Auld Lang Syne.

Mariah Carey is getting a chance to ring in the New Year the right way after her 2016-2017 performance went totally wrong.

For those who don't remember, Mariah Carey performed on the program past year just before midnight, taking the stage for possibly the most disastrous performance of her career. The performance was panned by one and all and at one point she just stopped singing and refused to continue blaming technical difficulties throughout her "Emotions" song.

HMAS AE1 was found in in more than 300 metres of water off the Duke of York Islands in PNG by the search vessel Furgo Equator. Also, because no oil, wreckage, or bodies were found, it was assumed the sub sank intact - an assumption that proved correct.

But both sides have kissed and made up.

Words flew afterwards with Carey saying that her show had been sabotaged by ABC, citing an unsatisfactory run through earlier in the day.

"Afterward, Carey posted a meme of herself on social media with the message "(expletive happens)". Mariah said in a statement. During their time working together, they have accomplished great things, including, most recently, Mariah Carey's new music and motion picture projects for this upcoming holiday season.

Carey will join Camila Cabello, Nick Jonas, and Sugarland at the event in Times Square, with a special appearance by Britney Spears via satellite from Las Vegas. The show is marking its 46 anniversary, and Seacrest has hosted from Times Square for the past 12 years.
