Will he miss time next season?

Philadelphia Eagles fans are having a hard time processing the sudden loss of starting quarterback Carson Wentz, who suffered a season-ending torn ACL on Sunday against the Rams. "You just put your head down and you just go to work".

Not to suggest that Pederson's playbook isn't legit, but Wentz's rare combination of intelligence, arm strength, mobility and the ability to resurrect dead plays with Houdini-like escapes from the pocket are more responsible for the sleepless nights facing opposing defensive coordinators each week than Pederson's play calls.

The Eagles clinched the NFC East in the win yesterday, so they will be hosting at least one playoff game at Lincoln Financial Field, and are also in an excellent position to land either the No. 1 or No. 2 seed, which would mean a first-round bye. It was evident when Carson was out of the game, you saw Nick come in and come back and lead us to victory in that game.

Wentz has been special and he proved it again on Sunday. Nine-time Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters, return specialist/running back Darren Sproles, star linebacker Jordan Hicks and special teams captain Chris Maragos already went down for the season. There is still plenty of football left to be played and this season isn't over until it's over. His fourth TD pass came after he tore his ACL. "He's a veteran player who has played and won a lot of games".

Wentz was the best thing this franchise had going, and now he is dealing with a serious injury that has derailed the careers of a number of young quarterbacks over the last few years. Pederson insisted that Foles has earned, and would receive, the same autonomy over the offense that Wentz enjoyed, but that's clearly coach-speak and can't possibly be true.

"It sure can, heck yeah", Pederson said. I know my God is a powerful one with a flawless plan. Pederson said he hasn't spoken to personnel boss Howie Roseman about adding a third quarterback yet.
