Shea Patterson is headed to MI.

Michigan Coach Jim Harbaugh received an early Christmas gift on Monday, when former Ole Miss quarterback Shea Patterson, the No. 1 quarterback in the class of 2016, announced that he's transferring to Ann Arbor. Showing signs of the college version of Johnny Manziel during his brief IMG Academy stay, Patterson, who is from Shreveport, La., was a hot commodity as the No. 1-rated pro-style quarterback in the country.

Because of the sanctions, all seniors are able to transfer without having to sit out a year, but other players, including Patterson, will have to petition the NCAA for the right to transfer without sitting out a year.

It's unclear if Patterson, who took an official visit to MI over the weekend, will be eligible to play for the Wolverines next season. The Wolverines have undeniably taken positive steps forward, but they also haven't finished better than third in the Big Ten East. Expectations were unfairly high in 2017 with just five starters back and 11 drafted players gone, but the season couldn't help but feel disappointing anyway.

We'll see if Patterson can lift MI fast.

The museum opened with about 600 pieces including items from early Mesopotamia. "We own it", the official said. The newspaper said that the work will be lent or resold to museums, largely in the Middle East and Asia.

This season, he completed 166 of 260 pass attempts for 2,259 yards with 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Shea played 7 games with the Rebels in 2017 before suffering a torn PCL.

There was a lot of hype surrounding Patterson when he came to Ole Miss.

Patterson and two Ole Miss teammates, safety Deontay Anderson and wide receiver Van Jefferson, took an official visit to MI this past weekend. All three were joined by the entire MI coaching staff, including coach Jim Harbaugh, at the Crisler Center for the Wolverines' overtime win over UCLA on Saturday afternoon. And the school obliged, allowing Patterson, coming off his sophomore season, the opportunity to engage in talks with MI. With Speight out, MI first turned to Houston transfer John O'Korn, who struggled and was replaced by redshirt freshman Brandon Peters.
