Liquidity Drives Sensex, Nifty Up; Reliance, Bajaj Auto, Infosys, Cipla, Top Gainers

While the Sensex was trading 31 points higher at 33,593 level, the Nifty was trading at 10,356, up 13 points. U.S. markets closed on a soft note after Federal Reserve released the minutes of its previous meeting which showed that the policy makers are largely positive about the economy but worry that market prices are getting out of hand.

Extending its rally, the 30-share index advanced 101.78 points, or 0.30 per cent, to 33,689.86.

The barometer 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the BSE closed at 33,679.24 points - up 91.16 points or 0.27 per cent - from its Thursday's close. Asian stocks gained after volatile trade. The U.S. markets were closed yesterday for Thanksgiving holiday.

It saw an intra-day movement of 42.25 points.

Indian shares ended higher for a seventh straight session on Friday as IT firms gained, while bonds slid on market talk of a potential sovereign ratings upgrade by Standard & Poor's.

Market breadth was positive with 1,055 advances against 564 declines.

Major index gainers were Aurobindo Pharma, IndusInd Bank, Infosys, GAIL, Bharti InfraTel, Ultratech Cement and Powergrid.

A total of 15,158.20 lakh shares changed hands in 10,102,886 trades.
