'Captain Marvel': Jude Law Lands Male Lead Opposite Brie Larson (EXCLUSIVE)

Jude Law has entered talks to join Marvel's Captain Marvel, as first reported Wednesday by Variety.

Law's mentor character will be called Doctor Walter Lawson, according to Variety, who helps her understand her new superpowers. The actor will star opposite Brie Larson in the upcoming Captain Marvel. In the comics, Mar-Vell is a Kree who is sent to spy on Earth to decide if it's a threat to the Kree empire.

Captain Marvel is being directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, who directed Half Nelson. He has already signed up to play and is shooting the follow up to Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald. He is also still attached to appear in a third Sherlock Holmes movie with the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr.

There's no word on what character Law would be playing but early word is that he would be a mentor of sorts to Larson's character in the film. The film will co-star Ben Mendelsohn as the villain.

The film will be set in the 1990s with Samuel L. Jackson expected to reprise his role as Nick Fury.

Beyond this tidbits, details on Captain Marvel are still sketchy.

Marvel President Kevin Feige previously stated that the alien Skrulls would play a role in the film.

It'll release shortly after Captain Marvel in 2019, though there have been rumblings that a select number of costumed crusaders will cross over into the Larson-fronted spinoff.

Broncos Turning to Paxton Lynch as Starting QB This Week
Lynch showed very little in two rookie starts, but the Broncos have nothing to lose as they play out the string of a lost season. But, I talked to the trainers and the coaches, and like I said, they've done a good job so far and I feel great.
