The Saints (8-2) win streak extends to eight games after beating Washington. He needed only 11 carries to set the mark, averaging 12.2 yards per rush. Cousins was 10 for 14 and 139 yards passing, Perine had 11 carries for 57 yards and a TD and Chris Thompson had the one pass for 16 yards and the TD. Guard Shawn Lauvao left in the first half with what team officials described as a stinger and did not return. With all due respect to the Vikings, they are really good, but the Redskins can not afford to allow Case Keenum, Adam Thielen and Latavius Murray to move the ball up and down the field easily, if they expect to be a playoff team. Unfortunately, Saints RB Alvin Kamara made up a bunch of those yards, nearly getting the first down, and it was surprising that New Orleans coach Sean Payton didn't go for it on fourth-and-three.

The Saints defense stopped Washington again, this time with safety Vonn Bell drilling Kirk Cousins for a sack as time expired.

Now 31-16 after the PAT, there was 5:58 left in the game.

It wasn't. The defense couldn't stop New Orleans.

This is where things got ugly for the Redskins defense. Even with a big game next week looming against the Los Angeles Rams, the Saints have proven to this point that they're a legitimate threat to go the distance.

The game was originally scheduled as the season opener for both teams on September 10, but the league postponed it to Week 11 in preparation for Hurricane Irma as the storm was tracking through the Caribbean.

Unfortunately, Washington went three-and-out and New Orleans came back and scored easily on three short passes from Brees to Michael Thomas, Ted Ginn, Jr., and TE Coby Fleener.

Kamara then converted the tying 2-point conversion by taking a pitch around left end. They were aggressive and moving the ball at will. "They came back and beat us fair and square".

Redskins punter Tress Way hit the field to punt and that was all she wrote.

Clowney was a menace throughout, but his fourth-down gap-stuffing on Cardinals running back Adrian Peterson midway through the fourth quarter resulted in a turnover on downs and enabled the Texans (4-6) to seize control on the ensuing snap when rookie running back D'Onta Foreman dashed 34 yards for a touchdown and a two-score lead with 6:19 remaining.

Less than three minutes later, the Redskins were watching New Orleans' Will Lutz make a 28-yard game-winning field goal.

This game was a good one, despite the heartbreak for Washington.

Perine carried 23 times for 117 yards, including his 1-yard TD.

Cousins completed 22 of 32 throws for 322 yards. But WR Jamison Crowder caught seven balls for 72 yards.

"He's one of the most important players on our offense, especially when you get the ball back and you need him for pass protection routes coming out of the backfield at the end", Washington coach Jay Gruden said. "But we have no choice but to keep grinding and battling and get ready for the Giants".

French Ambassador Francois Delattre said the Russian veto was a blow to worldwide efforts to curb the use of chemical weapons. It would mark the tenth time that Moscow has used its veto power at the council to block action targeting its ally Syria.
