That wasn't the worst part of Cleveland's first-half performance.

The Lions finally put the game away at that point, as wide receiver Golden Tate took a short pass 40 yards for a touchdown that put the Lions up 38-24.

Kizer was stuffed at the line, and time expired before the Browns could stop the clock or attempt another play.

The Lions are now 5-4 entering next Sunday afternoon's trip to meet their longtime rival, the Chicago Bears, at Soldier Field on the shores of Lake Michigan.

The Browns responded with three strong possessions: the one that came up empty at the end of the half, two long touchdown drives in the third quarter. That gave Quandre Diggs a free shot at Kizer, who left with rib injuries.

CoPIRG: High levels of lead in some fidget spinners sold at Target
The research revealed some of the spinners could contain as much as 300 times the federal limit for lead in children's products. Company representatives argue that a fidget spinner is not a toy because such products are not intended for kids 14 and older.

Nevin Lawson of the Detroit Lions recovered a fumble and ran it back for a touchdown in the second quarter Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. Crowell had 90 rushing yards and a touchdown, Duke Johnson added 54, and Kizer had 57, including his fourth rushing touchdown of the season.

What it means: If the Browns played this way all season, there would be unhappiness about the record but credit for an undermanned team competing to win. Ogbah and Myles Garrett started fast, Kizer looked more comfortable and the Browns were aggressive and successful running the ball. I thought that was one of the better versions of our football team out there playing today.

Kessler hasn't fared much better than Kizer when called upon. The second quarter belonged to the Lions. The reason he was hit was because David Njoku missed a block. It went nowhere, and the Lions wisely made sure the Browns could not get up to spike the ball for a field goal try. "That's how you win games". "He's a good player".

The Browns, of course, have no hopes of a second-half turnaround that would suddenly vault them to playoff contention.
