Asylum seekers and refugees inside the Manus Island detention centre are "extremely scared" as workers tear down the fences around the compound and a deadline for them to be forcibly evicted approaches.

An official says more than 500 asylum seekers remain in a decommissioned Australian immigration camp in Papua New Guinea after a court ruled authorities no longer have to supply power, food and water.

"The State party should also address the conditions of detention in immigration facilities, provide adequate mental healthcare, refrain from applying force or physical restraints against migrants and ensure that all allegations of use of force against them are promptly investigated", it said.

Nearly 600 men have been holed up inside the detention facility, more than a week after it was shut down. "The Manus center was established for the sole reason of processing asylum claims".

O' Neill said the Detention Centre was established for the goal of processing asylum claims which has been completed.

"Given the Supreme Court's decision, the government has no choice but to intervene for the well-being of both the refugees and non-refugees". "If necessary, force may be used to relocate those who refuse to move voluntarily for your own sake". He warned that "appropriate means" would be used to "apprehend individuals who are causing unnecessary anxiety and violence".

21st Century Fox Considering Selling Much of Itself to Disney
So it would definitely be interesting to see how a more-focused-on sports Fox would do, and how investors would react. Apple, which also reportedly eyed the company, has always been seen as a potential buyer for Disney .

Mr Boochani, a refugee on Manus Island who has reported on the men's plight on social media and elsewhere, said they were still refusing to leave after receiving the notice.

Canberra says its tough immigration policy against boatpeople dissuades would-be migrants from attempting the unsafe crossing to Australia and has prevented hundreds of deaths at sea.

Mr Pyne says they have refused to take other options available, including access to new accommodation facilities or returning to their country of origin.

Activists have scaled the Sydney Opera House to protest against Australia's treatment of asylum seekers in Papua New Guinea (PNG).

"They can not, having created the situation, now compound it by sending in security forces to force the refugees to move".
