US, Turkey to resume issuing non-immigrant visas

US embassy in Turkey starts to issue visas

"Turkey is a state of law and our government can not provide any assurances regarding files that are subject of ongoing legal processes", the Turkish embassy said in the statement.

Turkish embassy in Washington denied that Turkey had given assurances to the USA authorities about the ongoing cases in the country.

Turkey reciprocated the move and announced a resumption of limited visa processing at its diplomatic missions in the U.S. via a statement on Twitter.

Turkey may reciprocate that move and partially ease issuance of visas for the USA citizens, a Turkish government source said.

But the embassy on Monday said it had received "initial high-level assurances" from Turkey that "no additional local employees of our mission in Turkey (are) under investigation".

The Turkey-US visa dispute started on October 8, when the US Embassy in Ankara announced the suspension of non-immigrant visa services to Turkish nationals.

The move came after a U.S. consulate staff member in Istanbul was arrested for allegedly having ties to Fethullah Gulen.

When they came back at approximately 4:30 p.m. local time , the stands were mostly bare because fans departed during the delay. Ultimately, not even Mother Nature could save the Nittany Lions from the tail end of a three-game East Division maelstrom.

"The reference to the security situation in the Embassy's statement does not reflect the truth, and is considered odd since Turkey has taken all the necessary measures for the security of all diplomatic and consular missions in Turkey, including those of the USA, and as the USA side stated at every occasion that there is no need for additional measures", the embassy said.

Among the several Americans arrested in Turkey is pastor Andrew Brunson, who ran a church in the western city of Izmir.

In March, a Turkish employee at the USA consulate in the southern city of Adana was arrested on charges of supporting the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which both Ankara and Washington consider a terror group.

Turkey has also pledged to inform the United States government should Turkey plan to detain or arrest any of the local staff in the future, the USA mission said. Erdogan described the USA decision as "upsetting".

Turkey has pressed Washington for the extradition of the Pennsylvania-based Gulen, who denies any link to the coup bid.

Turkey has also been enraged by Washington's support for the Syrian Kurdish YPG militia in the fight against Islamic State.

Meanwhile, members of Erdogan's security detail were indicted by USA authorities after clashes with protesters during an official White House visit in May, infuriating the Turkish president.
