Shalane Flanagan, 36, of OR, won the New York City Marathon Sunday in an official time of 2 hours, 26 minutes, and 53 seconds.

American Shalane Flanagan and Kenya's Geoffrey Kamworor won women's and men's titles apiece at the 2017 New York Marathon on Sunday.

Kenya's Mary Keitany, bidding for her fourth consecutive victory in the race, was 61 seconds back in second. The Massachusettes native said earlier that if she were to win her first major marathon on Sunday, it could be her last 26.2-mile race at age 36.

On the men's side, Kenyan Geoffrey Kamworor beat out countryman and 2014 victor Wilson Kipsang for his first major marathon victory, with a time of 2 hours, 10 minutes and 53 seconds.

Kipsang, the 2014 NY champion, was three seconds back with Ethiopia's Lelisa Desisa third in 2:11:32. "This is the moment I've dreamed of since I was a little girl".

Jaguars assert their dominance over Bengals, 23-7
Ivory has 209 yards and one touchdown on 57 carries, backing up Fournette in six games and starting against the Colts. The Cincinnati Bengals struggled to move the ball versus the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday afternoon in the 23-7 loss.

While Flanagan was an overwhelming victor, Kamworor was not assured of his first major victory until the closing meters.

"So I was thinking of other people when it started to hurt", said Flanagan, the 2008 Olympic 10,000 meters silver medalist. Lelisa Desisa of Ethiopia was third at 2:11:32. Flanagan's time is the second fastest time ever clocked by a USA woman in the race.

Flanagan placed sixth in the women's marathon in at the Rio Olympics a year ago, the top American finish.

In the men's wheelchair race, Switzerland's Marcel Hug completed an American clean sweep, crossing the line in 1:37.17 to add to his wins in Boston and Chicago this year. He settled for second in 2015 to Kenyan Stanley Biwott after being overtaken late in the race.
