What had become increasingly inevitable was made official Thursday when the Indianapolis Colts announced they were placing quarterback Andrew Luck on the injured reserve list, declaring Luck's season over before it ever began.

Luck underwent offseason shoulder surgery and has been unable to get well enough to return. So we're going to shut his throwing down and we're going to continue to rehab.

Although the Colts are optimistic about Luck's eventual return to the field, many fans are frustrated. "Career-ending is putting him out on the field before he's ready to play - that is where you should be concerned". But, then, it would have seemed far-fetched a few years ago to suggest the pairing of Luck and the Colts would not be producing wild success. Jacoby Brissett has seen the lion's share of the time under centre in Luck's absence, starting every game this season save for Week 1 when Scott Tolzien got the call.

Others are looking forward to a healthy Luck and fresh start in 2018. Luck has battled injuries and disappointing play.

'Multiple parties down' after shooting at Colorado Wal-mart
Police spotted the vehicle and followed it, eventually stopping Ostrem in his Mitsubishi Mirage and taking him into custody. The Walmart is located about 10 miles north of Denver. "I ran out, too, because I didn't want to get shot", he said.

Brissett has mixed promising moments with the sorts of mistakes typical of a young quarterback who never was expected to be anyone's starter or centerpiece player so early in his career.

Luck thought in April he would be ready to go, and I can not see him publically stating that just to help the organization from a PR standpoint.

Injuries have derailed what was a positive start to Luck's career. He also ran for 341 yards and two more scores.

Inside the locker room, Luck's teammates understand why he won't be back. Luck missed a game last season with a concussion and all of this season with the shoulder. The doctors have told the Colts to have patience with the rehab process, he said. They could use the high draft pick to address a position of need, or if there are several quarterbacks who are as good as some think they'll be, Indianapolis could trade back to stockpile more picks to help its rebuild.
