There have been 391 reports of failed activation, including one report of a fatality, 16 injuries including smoke inhalation and burns, as well as 91 reports of property damage.

In addition to the extinguishers not working, the nozzle can come off with enough force to kill you.

The CPSC's recall includes 134 models of Kidde fire extinguishers, including models previously recalled in March 2009 and February 2015.

The extinguishers may fail to discharge and the nozzle may detach.

The recall involves 134 models, both plastic handle and push-button Pindicator fire extinguishers, manufactured by USA company Kidde Corporation between January 1, 1973, and August 15, 2017.

The delay may have prompted some buyers to wait to check out the iPhone X before deciding on its more affordable sibling. He cited early reports of lines forming outside its stores ahead of the launch.

The faulty extinguishers are equipped with plastic handles and push-buttons and can become clogged. The products were sold at many stores, including The Home Depot, Walmart, Amazon.com and others. Kidde settled with the family.

The recall affects between 37 and 38 million extinguishers in the USA made from 1973 to this past September.

A listing of the affected model numbers can be found at the CPSC website. Or you can call the company at (855) 271-0773.

Owners should contact Kidde to ask for a replacement and for instructions on how to return recalled models. No proof of purchase is required, however, a model number, year of manufacture, and the unit's date code and serial number must be provided. The new extinguishers contain metal parts instead of plastic. Customers can also reach Kidde online.

Ann Marie Buerkle, acting chairman of the Consumer Product Safety Commission, told CNN the agency is using print and radio ads and social media to spread the word about the recall.
