But if Benjamin's not 100%, the Panthers get to wiggle out of the fifth-year option they inked him to and get a third-rounder (and a meaningless seventh-rounder) out of this.

The trade is a bit more puzzling for the Panthers.

It was a last-second deal that was made just prior to 4 p.m. EST deadline on Tuesday afternoon that only brings light to how much the organization valued Benjamin in terms of his place in their future plans.

The Bills have been active in retooling their receiving corp over the last few months with a trade for Jordan Matthews from the Philadelphia Eagles while dealing away Sammy Watkins to the Los Angeles Rams and drafting rookie Zay Jones.

Travis Benjamin's Punt Return Results In Embarrassing Safety
After a touchdown pass from Tom Brady to Rob Gronkowski tied the game, the Chargers went three-and-out before forcing a punt. The Chargers jumped out to a 7-0 lead when Melvin Gordon ripped off an 87-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

Entering Week 9 of the NFL season, Bills wide receivers have combined for just 45 receptions and 594 receiving yards, both the lowest marks in the league.

The 26-year-old was drafted by the Panthers 28th overall in the 2014 draft where Beane was the director of football operations. Benjamin alone has 32 receptions and 475 receiving yards.

Despite all this, it is worth mentioning that Newton did enjoy his MVP season in 2015 with Benjamin sidelined for the year. Not only is he a tight end, but he's also going to be out at least another week with a knee injury.

Suffice it to say, Twitter had some interesting things to say about this trade. Beane acknowledged that Buffalo's success played a role in the trade, stating, "If you start 0-7, I'm not sure you trade a pick".
