Tesla Model X recall 2017 seat issue

Tesla has issued a recall notice for its 2016 and 2017 Model X SUVs over concerns the rear left seatback in some cars may move forward in the event of a collision.

Tesla said it has not received reports of any issues or accidents relating to the issue.

According to Tesla, some cables in the seat might have been improperly tightened, which prevents the left seat from locking in an upright position, and tends to makes it move forward during a crash.

Tesla says it's not aware of any reports of injuries from the issue, which was discovered during internal testing, the AP reports.

To conduct the repairs, the company is deploying its mobile fix service - though customers can still elect to take the vehicle to their local service centre.

It's important to stress that this recall is voluntary, and that means it can't be too serious. We can address 100% of these repairs via mobile service, and you will have the choice to do that or to bring in your auto to a Service Center.

However, since the release of the Model S, Tesla has been cricitised for issues with build quality and general quality control.

The Palo Alto, Calif. -based company started informing customers via email about the recall which covers Model X SUVs that have a fold flat down row of back seats and were produced from October 28, 2016, to August 16 of 2017.
