Bad news for the Dallas Cowboys... a federal appeals court has ruled Ezekiel Elliott's 6-game suspension is back

A federal appeals court ruled in favor of the NFL's six-game suspension of former Buckeye Ezekiel Elliott on Thursday.

Speaking on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas on Friday, Jones reiterated the Cowboys' stance that the process leading to Elliott's suspension was conducted in an unfair fashion. The NFL Players Association had a temporary restraining order approved and a primary injunction issued to postpone the suspension in a district court in Texas prior to the results of the appeal.

Elliott played the first five games while the case was in the courts. Prosecutors in Columbus, Ohio, decided not to pursue the case, citing conflicting evidence.

If Elliott isn't granted another injunction that keeps him on the field, he won't be eligible to play until the Cowboys' Nov. 30 game against Washington.

For now, the NFL's initial domestic violence punishment stands - and the league has been cleared to enforce the 6-game suspension. At the time the NFLPA filed the complaint, it was possible the arbitrator could have issued a final decision that was favorable to Elliott.

Bill Russo, a spokesman for the former vice president, declined to comment to CNN. "These allegations are low-life behavior". So, rather than jump on Weinstein, they give him a few days of breathing room.

Elliott was not present at that hearing. A source told ESPN's Adam Schefter that Elliott's lawyers have the option of refiling in Dallas or fighting the suspension in NY, a decision they are discussing now. "Even though it's done away from the law, it looks like you've done something, and that to me is incumbent upon the National Football League to basically follow some more fair procedures if it's going to look like you did something whether you did or not".

Veteran Alfred Morris is the likeliest candidate to receive starting reps, while Darren McFadden and Rod Smith will also figure into the mix.

"It's not the thing to do right now to get into how we will respond, but we support Zeke", Jones said.

"We've got really good alternatives".
