One person has died from a wildfire in Northern California, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal-Fire) said on Monday.

A series of fires fanned by high winds erupted Sunday night and Monday morning in California's wine country, charring at least 20,000 acres and sending thousands of people fleeing homes, hotels and hospitals in the middle of the night. Jerry Brown to proclaim a state of emergency.

"When I found her I said, 'Forget it, let's just go.' It went from being an annoying evacuation to something really scary". There were 30 to 40mph winds.

Mayor Jill Techel said homes hadn't burned within the city of Napa.

Santa Barbara-based Direct Relief (DRI) has offered emergency assistance to California's Office of Emergency Services, the Napa County Public Health Department, and more than 40 health centers and clinics in the affected region.

"There are fires burning in a handful of areas, but Napa is the primary focus because it started there first", Jourdan said.

To add to it, Haque said that Bangladesh had given a written proposal to Myanmar on the repatriation of the immigrants. Lowcock said he believed a "a high-level" United Nations team would be able to visit the area "in the next few days".

San Francisco Chronicle reporter Kurtis Alexander shared footage on Twitter on Monday of both a Hilton hotel and a Kmart on fire in Santa Rosa.

The wildfires are burning out-of-control and have already destroyed an untold number of structures and businesses, as well as forcing the evacuation of patients in two hospitals in Santa Rosa, run by Kaiser Permanente and Sutter Health.

Other fires have also prompted evacuations in Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, Glen Ellen and other areas.

Evacuation orders are also in effect in an area north of the town of Oroville, where the Cherokee Fire has burned 1,00 acres. Numerous fires spread suddenly overnight, whipped by furious winds.

The Associated Press is also updating its coverage on this page. "It's basically made it all the way to Green Valley Road on the hills on the Napa County side - Wild Horse, Green Valley, up there".

"Warm temperatures, low humidity and locally strong winds will coincide with critically dry fuels", forecasters warned. Be alert for debris in the roadway and downed power lines.

Authorities in Marin and San Francisco counties made the same plea, asking residents who smell smoke not to call 911 unless they see flames.
