Four Lille fans have been seriously injured this evening after a barrier collapsed whilst they were celebrating the opener in tonight's Ligue 1 match against Amiens.

The fixture was interrupted in the 16th minute and later abandoned after a fence separating fans from the pitch gave way as the visiting Lille supporters celebrated a goal by Fode Ballo-Toure.

Really scary stuff. Early reports suggest about 20 fans were injured, with France 3 reporting three have been seriously hurt. "The investigation will determine the causes of this incident".

Built in 1999, Amiens' Stade de la Licorne, has a capacity of 12,000.

Lille chief executive Marc Ingla responded on Twitter saying: "The statement from Amiens' president is irresponsible and inflammatory in the context of this situation. We hope that the French league identifies those responsible".

Numerous victims suffered leg and rib injuries, while four people are reportedly in a serious condition according to Sky News.
