Presidents Cup: Justin Thomas holes exquisite bunker shot at the Presidents Cup

The Internationals have a huge hole to climb out of if they're to win the 2017 Presidents Cup as the U.S. Team built a six point lead on Friday at Liberty National.

United States 3½, worldwide 1½.

Throughout the years, the Presidents Cup has developed a reputation for a lack of passion.

Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed contributed a half point to the US effort when their match with Hideki Matsuyama and Canada's Adam Hadwin ended all-square. So instead of Spieth and Patrick Reed attempting their birdie putts to try and tie the hole, McFee ruled that the hole had been conceded.

In Friday's other matches, Americans Kevin Chappell and Charley Hoffman take on South African Charl Schwartzel and Anirban Lahiri of India while the USA duo of Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka face Aussie Adam Scott and Venezuela's Jhonattan Vegas - who will be trying to bounce back from a narrow defeat on Thursday.

Dustin Johnson and Matt Kuchar pushed the reeling Internationals into a deeper hole with a 4&3 decision over Canada's Adam Hadwin and Australian Adam Scott.

World Number 1 Johnson caught fire on the back 9 and wrapped up the match for the USA on the 16th winning 3 & 2.

Rickie Fowler and Justin Thomas, who impressed in their first Presidents Cup outing together Thursday (Friday in Manila), will face a tough challenge on Friday against worldwide super-duo Louis Oosthuizen and Branden Grace.

Prototype construction begins on Trump's border wall
Customs and Border Protection said the building began in San Diego on eight prototypes, which had been awarded over the summer. The prototypes, which are being constructed on an isolated swath of land in San Diego , will cost about $500,000 each.

United States have won nine of 11 Presidents Cups.

With the worldwide duo of Jason Day and Marc Leishman, the side's strongest team on paper, cruising to a 2-up lead through 10 holes, Kisner squared the match with a 30-footer for birdie at the 15th hole and Lefty, a captain's pick, rolled in a 15-footer for birdie on the final hole to complete a dominant day. "And you know, with having just as much success as we've had in the past, it's always great to see that matchup pop up and to be able to know that you're playing with someone that you have so much confidence with and also for whenever you're in any situation".

Having fallen two points behind after Thursday's play, the worldwide team would have been confident of chopping down the gap a little in the fourballs on Friday.

The U.S. would clinch the trophy a day early with a sweep of the afternoon four-balls, which would turn Sunday's 12 singles matches into dead rubbers. He and Reed stole a half-point against Matsuyama and Hadwin in Friday's four-ball session, so the Americans are likely to keep their hot streak rolling into the weekend. "They came into this event riding a lot of momentum, a lot of confidence, and they really get excited to play these team events and it's showing".

- Justin Thomas, on being the first USA team to beat Oosthuizen and Grace.

Hoffman and Chappell are Presidents Cup rookies and promptly earned a point. "I know his game very well and he knows mine very well, and it's fun to put the two together and go out and win our first team point". But the Aussies fought back, taking a 1-up lead at the seventh hole with a chip-in birdie from Day. Lahiri and Schwartzel won only one hole when both players stuffed tee shots on the par-3 10th to 3 feet. Grace and Oosthuizen got it back to all square with a birdie at the 11th, and that's where the match would end at the 18th, with a half point going to each team.

Spieth and even Oosthuizen argued the common sense nature of the situation: Oosthuizen's ball was not going in the hole, and Day's birdie already had been conceded.
