"It's a complicated question regarding what is actually causing the health issues in Cuba, but our members are clear that they have a mission to do", AFSA President Barbara Stephenson told BuzzFeed News.

"We have no reports that private U.S. citizens have been affected, but the attacks are known to have occurred in U.S. diplomatic residences and hotels frequented by U.S. citizens", Tillerson said in a statement.

USA and Cuban investigators still haven't determined the source of the attacks, which left some staff with injuries from hearing loss and cognitive issues to visual complaints and difficulty sleeping, according to two State Department officials who briefed reporters Friday on condition of anonymity.

In a statement earlier, The Cuban Foreign Ministry said, "The Cuban government has never perpetrated nor will it ever perpetrate attacks of any kind against diplomats". As president, Trump has called Barack Obama's opening to Cuba a "terrible and misguided" deal, but he was also once among the candidates in the Republican primary most open to it.

"The health, safety, and well-being of our embassy community is our greatest concern". "We must be careful that our response does not play into the hands of the perpetrators of these attacks", he added.

The Cuban foreign minister also complained about what he called the "unjustified" decision of the us government.to expel two Cuban diplomats from Washington and added "it would be unfortunate to politicize a case of this nature and to make hasty and unsupported decisions on inconclusive evidence and investigative results".

The State Department is drawing down to a skeleton, essential-staff only position, according to two US officials, with only "emergency personnel" remaining. The U.S. government's issuance of a travel warning and a freeze on visas in Cuba is making some observers recall the days the two countries distrusted each other while others are saying they've visited Cuba recently and would gladly do so again without fear.

CNN is reporting "a string of mysterious attacks against USA diplomats". The Department of State will also issue a travel warning advising Americans not to travel to the country.

"The incident seems just a pretext to toughen U.S. -Cuba policy", Mr Hoffman said. Its plans regarding additional flights, which are pending approval by the U.S. Department of Transportation, also have not changed.

"We will continue to aggressively investigate these attacks until the matter is resolved", he said.

The fact that some of the attacks targeted at least one USA diplomat staying in a hotel and happened as recently as August led to the State Department's decision to issue the travel warning to all Americans.

Citizens were urged not to travel to Havana because some of the attacks took place at hotels were Americans stay, according to a senior State Department official.

USA officials say there may have been as many as 50 attacks, a senior United States official told CNN, the most recent in August. This has been recognized by the representatives of the USA specialized agencies who have travelled to Cuba since June, whose visits have been considered as positive by the Cuban counterparts.

The US State Department is pulling out all families of employees and nonessential personnel from Cuba, after a string of mysterious sonic attacks against US diplomats, according to two US officials.
