American men were equally split on the question - 49-49 - while women believed by a 63-35 margin that Trump is not fit to be president.

Forty-two percent of those polled would support something like the Dream Act but without permanent legal status or citizenship, according to the survey, whose results were released this week by Latino Decisions, Latino Victory Project, and America's Voice. 14 percent that he is fit. It doesn't seem possible that logic or experience will change the minds of the 75 percent to 80 percent of the GOP who remain in Trump's quarter.

The survey was conducted from September 21 - 26, during a period when Trump's headlines were largely drawn from his criticism of NFL athletes who protest police brutality by kneeling during the national anthem.
