The last season of Game of Thrones is approaching, and HBO has announced who will be at the helm for its final days - this includes the two guys who brought A Song of Ice and Fire to life in the first place. Nutter directed "The Rains of Castamere", the episode which contained the infamous Red Wedding Scene.

The final season of the HBO series will be directed by Miguel Sapochnik, David Nutter, and GoT showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. (Benioff is credited for "Walk of Punishment" while Weiss is credited for "Two Swords.") It's unclear which showrunner will be credited for the series finale.

As for Benioff and Weiss, they've each been separately credited for directing "Game of Thrones" episodes. Episode 7, "The Gift", was a good well structured episode that helped pull the show out of the "Unbowed Unbent Unbroken" slump that proceeded it.

On May 24, 2018, the 3Arena will play host to one of the most spectacular concert events of the year - The Game of Thrones® Live Concert Experience.

The Season 7 finale, the Jeremy Podeswa-directed "The Dragon and The Wolf", set a viewership record August 27 when 16.5 million viewers saw the Night King and his Army of the Dead break through the Wall and Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen hit the sheets. We already knew there'd be plenty of blood in the final season of "Thrones", and this news does nothing to change our minds. To salve the wound that is a full month without more Thrones, HBO has made the official digital release available through retailers like iTunes, Vudu, Fandango Now, Microsoft and Google Play.

Russian General killed in Syria fighting
RUSSIA'S Defence Ministry revealed tonight that one its top generals has been killed by mortar shelling in Syria . Though there is no evidence of assault, struggle or any US -led coalition airstrikes to drive out the militants.

Come season eight, and things have become even more expensive. Variety reports that each of the six episodes will cost $15 million (£11.1 million). Unlike the United States style of production, which uses a writers room and collaborative process, Game of Thrones writes their scripts United Kingdom style, with one (or two) writers responsible for an entire episode.

Miguel Sapochnik returned in the sixth season, directing the season's final two episodes.

If not, the possibility remains for at least one more director to make their mark on Game of Thrones season 8.

Fabian Wagner (via Screen Crush) posted a photo on Instagram of him with the rest of the team behind "Battle of the Bastards".

It's thought that Sapochnik and Nutter will be directing two episodes each of the remaining six.
