'Sound of a Dog Barking': North Korea Responds to Trump's Threats at UN

Pyongyang, Sept22:North Korean leader Kim Jong Un had some choice words for US President Donald Trump on Friday, accusing the American leader of "mentally deranged behavior".

He offered more vitriol for Trump, saying he was "unfit to hold the prerogative of supreme command of a country, and he would 'pay dearly for his speech calling for totally destroying North Korea".

Kim made the remarks on September 22 in response to recent US -led sanctions efforts and a threat Trump made on September 19 in a speech to the United Nations General Assembly.

U.S. President Trump hasn't let Kim's statement go unnoticed; he took to Twitter to respond to the North Korean leader's "dotard" insults and threats on Friday morning.

If Pyongyang makes good on the threat, it would mean marrying the two most powerful weapons known to man: a fusion-type nuclear weapon and a ballistic missile.

Ri Yong Ho told reporters in NY that Pyongyang's response "could be the most powerful detonation of an H-bomb in the Pacific", according to South Korean media.

While I'm certain no one wins in a nuclear war, I might put my money on Kim Jong Un in a game of Scrabble vs Donald Trump.

The country then threatened the Guam, leading Mr Trump to say: "They will be met with fire and fury and frankly power, the likes of which this world has never seen before". The North Korean leader earlier labelled Trump "mentally deranged" and a "dotard" after Trump threatened to destroy his country.

He said Trump had insulted his country in the eyes of the world, and threatened to "surely and definitely tame the mentally deranged U.S. dotard with fire".

Politicians, commentators and ordinary citizens worldwide were concerned that Trump's presidency would destabilise the world - the only thing they really argued about was whether he'd ignite tensions in the Middle or Far East first. Reuters and other media outlets reported that Ri told reporters, "Mr. Trump must be dreaming if he thought he could intimidate us with his barking". North Korean General Kim Rak Gyom said: "Sound dialogue is not possible with such a guy bereft of reason and only absolute force can work on him".

"Foreign financial institutions must choose between doing business with the United States or facilitating trade with North Korea or its designated supporters", the order says. "We are talking about putting a live nuclear warhead on a missile that has been tested only a handful of times".

CHANG: And a final jab - Kim said Trump was a dotard.

The announcement came as Trump met in NY with leaders from close USA allies South Korea and Japan, the nations most imperiled by North Korea's threats.

President Trump signed an executive order on Thursday created to choke North Korea's economy.

The letter, issued in the leader's own name, was unusual for North Korea.

Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin said he spoke at length with the head of China's central bank but "I am not going to comment on confidential discussions".

It's not the first time North Korea has resorted to insults when delivering statements about its enemies.

Trump, in his Tuesday address to the United Nations, said it was "far past time" for the world to confront Kim, declaring that the North Korean leader's pursuit of nuclear weapons poses a threat to "the entire world with an unthinkable loss of human life".
