The search giant on Thursday announced it will host a hardware event on October 4, where it's expected to reveal its next-generation smartphone, the Pixel 2.

This is according to a webpage and video published by Google, asking users if they are interested in getting a new smartphone.

Past year on October 4th, Google launched the Pixel and the Pixel XL, the first exclusive smartphones from Google.

The report by Android Police notes that while owners in U.S. and Canada have a higher likelihood of their devices being replaced with Pixel smartphones, some in the United Kingdom still receive refurbished Nexus 6P devices and it seems that everyone in Australia is receiving a 6P as a warranty replacement. Google is resisting the industry trend of dual rear cameras, but it's not resisting the inexplicable industry conspiracy to kill the headphone jack.
