Spurs had a disappointing record before becoming tenants there and are yet to record a competitive win there this season, losing 2-1 against Chelsea before a stoppage-time Chris Wood goal earned Burnley a 1-1 draw prior to the global break.

Spurs finished as runners-up up to Chelsea last term having shown continual improvement since Mauricio Pochettino's appointment as manager.

Saturday's performance was by some distance their least cohesive so far, losing their shape and objective after falling behind to a fluke Harry Kane cross-shot.

Victory against Everton saw Spurs move into fifth place, with seven points from their opening four games, and Pochettino praised his players' "solid performance".

"People might not talk about us but that suits us", he told Sky Sports following the win over Everton.

Such a positive turnaround in such a short period of time can potentially be attributed to the recruitment of the likes of Davinson Sanchez, Serge Aurier and Fernando Llorente before the closure of the transfer window, and striker Harry Kane agrees the top class signings have led to Spurs being back in contention for the league title.

The north Londoners ran out comprehensive 3-0 winners at Goodison Park on Saturday thanks to an inspired performance from striker Harry Kane.

"This season is totally different because I had the pre-season with the team", he said. "What you have had is teams spending money, buying big players and big names".

"His position depends on the tactic and the dynamic of how we want to play". We play good football and we have been in the title race for the last couple of years. Kane, whose first goal against Everton was his 100th for Spurs, has won back-to-back golden boots but is still waiting to lift his first trophy. "Come the business end in the second half of the season, we are normally thereabouts fighting for the title".

"Now I feel good and ready to fight, like everyone, and to try to give my best for the team". The good thing is that he was very calm and relaxed on the pitch.

If he manages that, then there is every chance that those goals will help propel Spurs to glory.
