In Jakarta, dozens of protesters burned photographs of Myanmar state counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi outside the Myanmar embassy, where a small fire broke out after a molotov cocktail was thrown through a window.

Muslims in Myanmar have been facing more persecution since the election of Aung San Suu Kyi, with restrictions on identity documents and places of worship and the creation of "Muslim-free" villages, a human rights group said in a report published Tuesday.

Rakhine has been a crucible of religious violence since 2012, when riots erupted.

"The plight of the Rohingya Muslims is a challenge to the conscience of the global community", said Asif, expressing concern "over the spread of hate speech and incitement to violence, discrimination and prejudice against Muslims and members of national ethnic, religious and linguistic minorities".

The demonstrations raised the pressure on Aung San Suu Kyi, the de facto leader of Myanmar and a Nobel Peace Prize laureate who once embodied her country's fight for democracy and human rights.

Ms Lee said that Ms Suu Kyi was "caught between a rock and a hard spot", but added: "I think it is time for her to come out of that spot now". To date, at least 110 people have been killed and tens of thousands of people, mostly Rohingya Muslims, have fled into Bangladesh.

Kenyan court overturns president's win and calls for new election
Kenya's Supreme Court has overturned President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election win and has called for a new election within 60 days. This time, protests and sporadic violence killed at least 28 after Kenyatta was annoucned as the victor.

Both outpourings were sparked by attacks by Rohingya militants on police posts which triggered a crackdown by the Burmese military.

The ordinary Rohingya Muslims escorted them to the borders from where the Hindus entered Bangladesh.

"Over the last several years, I have repeatedly condemned this tragic and shameful treatment", Yousafzai said in a tweet on Monday. Aid workers say the available high-energy biscuits won't cover the new arrivals. "More than 6,000 Rohingya houses were set ablaze", he said. "We want the world to know that it is in a majority Muslim country but it is safe. Our immediate priority is to make sure that food and medical assistance can be provided to displaced civilians".

Their arrival has raised fears of a fresh humanitarian disaster as already crowded camps in Bangladesh-home to around 400,000 Rohingya refugees before the latest crisis- struggle to cope with the influx.

"The security forces have encircled villages and then [shot people] indiscriminately, but we also found that - compared perhaps to the violence that took place in October [and] November past year - there is more involvement of the local Buddhist population together with the military".
