George Bennett has abandoned the Vuelta a Espana after 11 stages

Tomasz Marczynski picked up a second stage win on this season's Vuelta A Espana by coasting to victory in stage 12 on Thursday with a gap of 52 seconds, while Chris Froome saw his overall lead reduced by 20 seconds after enduring a hapless finale.

Froome, who is bidding to become only the third rider to win La Vuelta and the Tour de France in the same year, crossed the line 31 seconds down on the Polish rider after the 175km stage. I felt good form the beginning, I was climbing easy.

Majka, who came third overall in La Vuelta in 2015, joined a breakaway group of 10 riders 20km into the race and outlasted them all, burning away from Bart De Clercq, Rui Costa and Patrick Konrad in the final 10km, just before the climb kicked in, finishing 27 seconds ahead of Miguel Angel Lopez.

And Colombian climber Esteban Chaves - the team's best remaining hope at a general classification podium - held firm at fifth overall and remains 2 minutes and 39 seconds back of race leader Chris Froome and 31 seconds off Ilnur Zakarin (Katusha Alpecin) in third.

Nibali had attacked on the climb, but was caught and overtaken by Froome.

"It's an unbelievable feeling to still be the leader and to have survived a stage like today", said Froome, who is aiming to become only the third man to win the Tour de France and the Vuelta in the same season.

Colts Officially Activate Andrew Luck off of PUP
Should Luck start the season on the PUP, he will be unable to play for the first six weeks of the campaign. That changed just eight days before the start of the regular season.

"I came to the Vuelta for the GC and I'm sick, I nearly go home, but now I am so happy".

"I knew that at 10k I need to go at full gas like a time trial", said Majka.

"It's an awesome feeling to finish off today and still to be the leader of three competitions - the red, the white and the green jersey as well - and to have survived a stage like today".

"It is my second time that I have taken a big stage race victory and this race I really tried for it from day one".

He then overtook Adam Yates, taking the lead in the stage at only five kilometers from the finish in the Sierra Nevada mountains.
