Colts Officially Activate Andrew Luck off of PUP

Andrew Luck could be out beyond Week 1?

The franchise quarterback can now practice at anytime, although any updates on a timetable for Luck throughout his rehab have been virtually non-existent from the Colts.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - JULY 30: Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck (12) watches practice during the Indianapolis Colts training camp on July 30, 2017 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, IN. After watching an inconsistent Tolzien perform during the preseason, the Colts acquired quarterback Jacoby Brissett from the New England Patriots on Sunday afternoon. Should Luck start the season on the PUP, he will be unable to play for the first six weeks of the campaign. He last played January 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars and underwent surgery later in the month to fix a torn labrum in his right shoulder.

This was an expected move because had the Colts had not removed the PUP list prior to 4 p.m. on Saturday Luck would have been forced to miss the first six weeks of the regular season. He hasn't played or practiced since Week 17 of last season.

Truex Jr. Qualifies 2nd, Jones 10th for Southern 500
It looked as if Hamlin might finish high but outside of Victory Lane once Logano broke free on a restart six laps from the end. But Truex, the defending victor of the event, was disappointed he couldn't hold on to the top spot for two more laps.

That changed just eight days before the start of the regular season. But the Colts still resisted the temptation of adding another veteran player to push backup QB Scott Tolzien in the offseason.

"I would say, again, the odds are most likely he probably won't open up against the Rams", Irsay said, "but let me be clear about it - in our minds it's something that we haven't ruled out".

During an interview on Thursday, Colts owner Jim Irsay didn't sound too optimistic that Luck would be on the field for his team's opener against the Rams in Los Angeles.
