While McClatchy reports that these individuals will likely be allowed to stay in the USA until their work permits run out, which could be sometime within the next two years, there is fear and anxiety in all that remains uncertain. Following are some of Trump's comments on the so-called Dreamer policy: February 16, 2017, news conference at the White House - "We're gonna show great heart, DACA is a very, very hard subject for me, I will tell you".

"A final decision on that front has not been made, and when it is, we will certainly inform everybody in this room", she said.

Trump's decision could be announced as early as Friday but could also come next week, said the official, who added that the president could always change his mind. She described a recent conversation with a client, a mother who hasn't slept in days and came to Ms. Fernandez in tears, full of anxiety about the road ahead for her three children, all of whom are DACA recipients.

That could affect more than 5,000 people in CT. The people, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss the matter, said such a delay was seen as a chance to avoid forcing a contentious immigration showdown in Congress at the same time lawmakers are trying to pass a budget deal, raise the debt ceiling and provide relief for states devastated by Harvey.

Ending DACA means all of these young people would be at risk of deportation and separation from their families and our communities; this would be senselessly cruel.

What to do about the so-called Dreamers has been actively debated within the White House and Trump administration. But you have some absolutely, incredible kids, I would say mostly.

Trump has been all over the map on what he really thinks of DACA. He continues on to relate these values to DACA, explaining that "DACA carries forward these commitments and exemplifies the spirit that has long defined this country: it enables hardworking, honest young people to thrive as engaged and productive members of our society, and it strengthens us all through the talent that they bring to America". Romero was just a young teenager when her mother was deported and has younger sisters who are USA citizens.

In 2014, ISIS and al-Qaeda militants overran the Lebanese border town of Arsal, kidnapping 30 Lebanese soldiers and sending shockwaves through the country.

"They shouldn't be very anxious", Trump said of the young people in the program. The US immigration system worked well for me.

His ability to do so, however, would be more limited if Trump ended DACA on his own.

"His campaign promise was solid".

The Florida Democratic Party also issued a pro-DACA statement Thursday. He didn't say he was going to phase it out.

If Trump were to end the program, it would force a gut-check moment for leadership on both sides of the aisle. "So they are either going to get credit for revoking the program and casting 800,000 people into legal limbo or get credit for fixing the problem", said Ali Noorani, the executive director of the National Immigration Forum.

"This is a moral issue", the governor said. "It's bad politics, it's bad policy".

Created in 2012, DACA pertains to young people brought to the US without documentation when they were under age 16, a group sometimes known as Dreamers.
