'Only You Can Punish Me,' Tejashwi Yadav Tells Bihar On His Maiden Rally

JD (U)'s Muzaffarpur district president Hariom Kushwaha on Thursday recommended the expulsion of senior leader and former minister Ramai Ram from the party.

The JD (U) warned Yadav to exercise restraint.

Without naming Nitish Kumar, Sharad Yadav said: "The decision to join hands with the BJP and form a government in Bihar was against the mandate given in the 2015 assembly polls against the BJP-led NDA".

"I had also vigorously campaigned for the Grand Alliance".

On Wednesday, the senior JD (U) veteran announced the kickstart his three-day Jan Samvad Yatra, where he will meet the people of Bihar and discuss the repercussions of withdrawal of the grand alliance between Rashtriya Janata Dal and JD (U).

In his first visit to Bihar after the Bihar grand alliance split, Yadav said that the disintegration of the alliance has violated the faith of 11 crore people of the state and that he is "hurt" by it. A Socialist from Jabalpur (in Madhya Pradesh), who won a bypoll in 1974 after completing his engineering, Sharad had to depend on leaders like Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar to enter the Parliament in the post-Mandal era.

The victim, Tyler Jarrell, died of blunt force trauma injuries after being tossed 50 feet into the air when the ride broke apart. The Great Allentown Fair once featured a smaller version, but it is no longer in the fair's ride package, a state official said.

Apart from Sharad Yadav, the JD-U's two Rajya Sabha MPs - Ali Anwar Ansari and Virender Kumar have also voiced their opposition to Nitish Kumar's decision to join hands with the BJP.

Sharad Yadav wants to be expelled from the JD-U because that will mean he doesn't lose his Rajya Sabha membership, which will happen if he resigns. It is quite likely that these spokespersons are speaking with the consent of Kumar, who himself has chosen to be silent on Sharad Yadav so far.

Srivastava is a confidante of Yadav, who claimed later in the day that state chiefs of at least 14 of the party's total 22 units in the country are in their camp, against Kumar's decision.

Nitish Kumar revived his alliance with the BJP against the opinion of Sharad Yadav. "This is his personal tour", JD (U) spokesperson Niraj Kumar said.

JD-U leaders have already started targeting Sharad Yadav for what they said was compromising with corruption.

The move had surprised everyone including the RJD and Congress party which had formed the grand alliance just twenty months earlier hoping to rule Bihar for the full term of five years. "These things would be deliberated upon during JD (U) National Executive meeting at Patna on August 19", Tyagi was quoted as saying by news agency PTI. "In the 70 years of history, I can not find an example where two opposition parties have a common manifesto", he said.
