Lucas Perez's agent accuses Arsenal of pricing striker out of transfer

According to the Shields Gazette, Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez has informed Jack Colback he's been left OUT of the club's 25-man Premier League squad for the season ahead.

"I like the player because I have good friends in A Coruña", Benitez was quoted as saying by the Chronicle after the 2-0 win over Hellas Verona. "We are getting to more difficult matches so I am working hard to be a better player for this team".

But Benitez is unhappy that other Newcastle targets have been missed although he admitted that it has been hard.

But Benitez feels his side haven't improved enough on a year ago, with just four days until their Premier League opener at home to Tottenham Hotspur.

"I try to do my best now".

Benitez admitted his frustration at the lack of transfer activity so far this summer on Tyneside. Hopefully we can find solutions and bring what we need.

"Sometimes it is not about you want, it is about what you need and what you can afford now", he said.

"It is hard for teams who don't have as much money as the big teams". Everything is a little more hard.

However, there is a worry that this decision only continues Newcastle's struggles in the transfer market.

Rafael Benitez has expressed an interest in signing the Arsenal striker and admits that he has spoken to Wenger, but Deportivo are also confident of getting back their former star.

The 21-year-old arrived at Chelsea from Brazilian club Fluminense in summer 2015 and instead of becoming another member of the loan brigade from the get-go, he was integrated into the first-team instead.

"I know that he did really well".

Asked about walking away, Benitez added: "No, I made a decision to stay".
