Microsoft Surface PCs No Longer Recommended By Consumer Reports

Microsoft disputed the study saying the company’s return and support rates differ significantly from the Consumer Reports study

Consumer Reports, the consumer watchdog and product reviews outlet, has rescinded its recommendations on all Microsoft Surface products, citing long-term reliability issues. Recent studies suggest that a quarter of laptops and tablets from Microsoft will present problems for users within two years of ownership.

Experiences were surveyed from subscribers who bought their Surface device between 2014 and March 31st 2017.

Consumer Reports is specifically stripping the 128GB and 256GB versions of the Surface Laptop and the 128GB and 512GB versions of the Surface Book of their coveted "recommended" status.

This retraction does not appear to be based on actual testing from within the Consumer Report labs.

Others said they had problems starting them up.

Issues reported with Surface devices included freezing, unexpected shut downs, issues with their touchscreens, and more.

Finally! Have Kajol and Karan Johar patched up?
If the two stars' social media activity is anything to go by, fans could definitely hope for a patch-up between the two. And that's not all, Kajol who is in a mood to patch up also invited for him for her birthday party.

The case is created to meet U.S. Military drop-test standards, a goal that UAG prefers for most of its products. Microsoft initially refused to service these systems at all, breaking a promise the head of Surface had made about MS offering a $200 battery replacement plan.

Microsoft, as you know, is relatively new to the hardware game. The Surface Pro 4 had marked problems with entering sleep modes, leading to low battery life, the Surface Book had hinge problems, and the Surface Pro 3's battery life deteriorated badly a year ago. Microsoft tackles these issues by providing the firmware updates. He added that the study found Apple's devices to be the most reliable. The last time Consumer Reports removed a recommendation for laptops was in 2015, when it turned a thumbs up into a thumbs down for three HP and one Lenovo laptop for reliability reasons, a spokesperson for Consumer Reports told The Register.

Microsoft said in a statement that it doesn't "believe these findings accurately reflect Surface owners' true experiences". Because of this, Consumer Reports can not recommend the devices.

Microsoft's data differed from that of the Consumer Reports survey.

But as Consumer Reports notes, the reliability of Apple's laptop and tablet products are consistently the most highly rated by its readers.
