Teen Emerges From Beach With Bloodied Legs After A Quick Dip

Sam Kanizay, 16, was soaking his legs at Dendy Street Beach, Brighton, after a football match when his feet and ankles were left shredded. His dad went back down to the beach to find out what bit his son, this is what he found.

The father of a teen who was bitten by mystery sea critters at a Melbourne beach has posted a graphic video of the lice devouring raw steak.

Mr Kanizay said by the time Sam returned to his shoes, his legs were covered in blood.

Described as "pin-sized holes", the bleeding continued well into the next afternoon.

Sam's father, Jarrod Kanizay, made a decision to investigate by dropping a hunk of raw steak in the water where his son was attacked.

A leading theory is that the teenager became a meal for scavenging sea lice.

Jarrod Kanizay / FAIRFAX There's been suggestions that sea lice are the culprits.

Video filmed by 16-year-old Sam Kanizay's father after the incident showed that so-called "sea fleas" were responsible for the attack. "I've put meat into a net and they've grabbed on to that like no tomorrow", said Sam's father Jarrod Kanizay said as quoted by Daily Mail Australia.

The incident comes nearly a year after a massive outbreak of tiny "sea lice" at Florida beaches.

Sam remained in the hospital Monday recovering from the wounding.

President Trump denies he called White House a 'dump'
Trump signed the bill behind closed doors, without the fanfare that has customarily accompanied his signing of executive orders. Trump said he would "honor" some of the bill's provisions, but stopped short of saying it would be fully implemented.

"There was a massive pool of blood on the floor", Mr Kanizay continued.

She said that the teen likely had a cut on his foot that attracted the creatures to him, or he possibly stepped near a dead fish carcass where they were feeding.

"I wasn't really thinking about being eaten".

Paul Duckett, a regular swimmer at the beach, said he has swum there for sixteen years and never confronted any flesh-eating bugs.

After examining some of the caught creatures, scientists at Museums Victoria identified them as lysianassid amphipods.

"They are small crustaceans that do bite into fish and into people, occasionally".

Yikes. We'll let you know when researchers figure this one out.

"What is really clear is these little things really love meat", Mr Kanizay concluded.

"At night, the little amphipods, these little tiny crustaceans, they all swarm into your light. Whether it's toxicity experts or marine exerts and other medics around Melbourne at least.no one (knows)". "It was just unlucky", she said in a statement.
