Iran's deputy foreign minister accused the United States of violating the nuclear deal known as JCOPA by renewing sanctions against the Islamic republic, semi-official Mehr news agency reported on Thursday.

"We urge that lawmakers voice their concerns with Trump's approach to Iran and demand that these sanctions be coupled with a strategy that include diplomacy, actively upholding the nuclear deal, and avoiding a war of choice".

The 2015 nuclear deal, called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, was signed between Iran and six other major world powers.

Under the terms of the deal signed by the Obama administration, Tehran, in exchange for the lifting of worldwide sanctions, agreed to reduce the number of its uranium enrichment centrifuges by two-thirds.

At the end of July, after the House of representatives, the u.s. Senate has approved almost unanimously a bill to impose sanctions against Russia, Iran and North Korea. "The United States will be vigilant in ensuring that Iran is held accountable for such behavior".

Araghchi said Iran has prepared a list of 16 measures Iran would take against the US action.

Iran says its missiles are purely defensive and could not carry nuclear arms because the country has promised not to develop them.

Iran said today that new U.S. sanctions were a violation of its nuclear deal with world powers, piling pressure on President Hassan Rouhani as he started his second term.

The iranian Parliament has started discussing a draft law that aims to strengthen the ballistic program of Iran and the irgc-Qods force provides of the revolutionary Guards, an elite army of the regime, "to fight against the actions of Washington".

"One country stands out for its deliberate, systematic contributions of weapons, training and funding for terrorist groups", Haley said.

Western countries fear that Iran's Simorgh space launch vehicle could be used as a nuclear missile. The US must certify to Congress every 90 days that Iran is complying with the deal.

"We will not react with countermeasures", Araqchi said.

The signing of fresh anti-Iran sanctions by Trump is an attempt to destroy the JCOPA, Araqchi, who is also Iran's senior nuclear negotiator, said.

Despite criticism of the nuclear deal, the U.S. administration has certified that Iran was in compliance with the agreement.

President Hassan Rouhani is going to notify Iranian organizations, including the Foreign Ministry and the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, of the details of the new decision. She recently criticized Council members for failing to act on North Korea, and last week highlighted the Council's focus on Israel while ignoring Iran and Hezbollah.
