The infected patient's partner had recently travelled to Cuba and was ill with symptoms of Zika virus.

Russia Orders US to Reduce Diplomatic Staff
But Russia , Lavrov said, is ready to normalize bilateral relations and cooperate on important issues on the global agenda. Russia's Foreign Ministry dismissed the new sanctions as "creating unfair competitive advantages for the US economy".

Zika can be spread from person to person through sexual intercourse, but it's been unclear whether the saliva of an infected person poses a threat to others.

A recent change by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is no longer recommending routine testing for pregnant women without any Zika symptoms, but who may have been put at risk.

There have been 118 Zika cases reported in Florida this year, with the majority linked to travel outside the continental United States. This is the second confirmed sexually transmitted Zika case in the US. The Florida Health Department says Zika can remain in semen for extended periods of time.

The mosquito-borne Zika virus may not be as big a threat now as it was this time previous year, but the Ministry of Health in Jamaica is still on guard. The case is classified as travel related.

If an organization already identifies an area where ongoing transmission of Zika is taking place, it is important to avoid going there or contacting people who reside there.
