Even private residences are getting into the spirit, with activities planned at Sunset Terrace Apartments, 5619 Byrd Ave.

Tuesday night thousands of neighbors will gather to catch-up, enjoy games, and get to know their police officers across the city.

The Red Oaks Neighborhood Association will be coming together from 6:30 p.m.to 9 p.m.at 1986 Jamie to talk about ways of improving their community.

The event was created back in 1984 to allow law enforcement agencies to have positive experiences with the communities they police.

Gloversville Police and the Gloversville Neighborhood Watch will be holding the event from 4 to 8 p.m.at the Farmer's Market Pavilion on elm Street.

Its goal, then and now, is to inform the public about community programs on topics such as drug prevention and keeping an eye on the homes of their neighbors to help everyone avoid crimes such as robbery, drug dealing and break-ins.

The Falmouth event from 6 to 8 p.m.at police headquarters.

Headlining the event is Trailer Trash, the popular Western Massachusetts band, which will take the stage at the band shell around 7 p.m. "Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and more".

Mauldin police will host a NNO event from 5 to 8:30 p.m.at the Mauldin Cultural Center.
