Hungarian GP: 'Scared, nervous, anxious' di Resta impresses on F1 return

After feeling unwell Felipe Massa has been given the all-clear for today's final practise session ahead of further checks

Williams reserve driver Di Resta, who last raced in the sport back in 2013, has not tested this year's vehicle, and will be thrown into the deep end in qualifying later on Saturday.

Di Resta was drafted in when Felipe Massa cut final practice short due to dizziness, something which had prompted a hospital visit on Friday evening.

However, he continued to feel unwell during the session, and after posting only 12 laps during the session, decided with the team to withdraw from driving, with "a view to return to the race-track for the Belgian Grand Prix".

Paul di Resta was thrown into the "deepest of deep ends" at the Hungarian Grand Prix on Saturday and emerged to universal acclaim. The last of his 58 F1 races was the Brazilian GP in November 2013.

Paul Di Resta turned up to the Hungaroring on Saturday morning, expecting to be in the Sky Sports commentary box.

Speaking about his sudden elevation to racing duties, Di Resta said: "Diving straight in, I am not going to lie I was scared, nervous, anxious".

There must be a proper balance between Tests and limited overs cricket but the Indian board alone can't do it. Will felicitate @BCCIWomen World Cup team in a grand ceremony in Bhopal & award a prize of Rs. 50 lakhs".

"Diving straight in, I am not going to lie I was scared, nervous, anxious...", he told Sky F1, with whom he would have been commentating for had he not been in the vehicle.

"I'm sure there are some nerves there, he hasn't had much time to get ready, but I have utter confidence in him that if anyone can do this, Paul can".

Prior to qualifying, Williams team boss Claire Williams explained Massa's situation and why the change had been made so late on in the weekend.

Though he has not driven the latest generation of F1 vehicle, he drove a 2014 Williams at the team's 40th anniversary event at Silverstone earlier this year. Felipe, as you all know, fell unwell at the end of FP2 yesterday. You just have to get in the vehicle and do the best job possible.

"I think Felipe Massa is more upset than anything else", said Williams. In fact, it was the first time in my experience having to swap a driver out during a race weekend.
