Trump names John Kelly chief of staff, replacing Reince Priebus

DONALD Trump has sensationally sacked his Chief of Staff Reince Priebus.

President Donald Trump fired off a tweet on Friday announcing that retired Gen. John Kelly, the secretary of Homeland Security, has been named the new White House chief of staff.

The former Republican National Committee chairman's dismissal marks the end to a tumultuous bid where he clashed with top advisors, most recently Scaramucci.

"I am pleased to inform you that I have just named General/Secretary John F Kelly as White House Chief of Staff".

Priebus' tenure lasted just seven months, an unusually short stint for a president's first chief of staff.

And while Mr Scaramucci and Mr Priebus have insisted publicly that they are united in support of the president, during the conversation with The New Yorker he intimated that his rival would be asked to leave. It turns out, a Politico reporter obtained it through a public-information request.

Venezuela to Introduce Ban on Street Protests
The existing Supreme Court has consistently backed Maduro and shot down all measures by the opposition-led National Assembly. Meanwhile, thousands of Venezuelans have fled the unrest this week, crossing the border into Colombia laden with heavy bags.

Priebus and Scaramucci have always been at odds.

Priebus' appointment was announced alongside Steve Bannon's, the former Breitbart editor in chief who was appointed chief strategist.

Priebus and other officials thought Scaramucci was unqualified for the job, and had blocked him from previous efforts to join the White House. Priebus had tried unsuccessfully to block Scaramucci's hiring. But the tornado of Trump only got stronger, and no amount of plywood and nails would keep the house in order. When his son came to office, he chose a different model, creating a system under which numerous senior aides were able to walk into the Oval Office and speak to the president, even if, on paper, they technically reported to someone else.

That didn't mean he wasn't critical. "Ever", Priebus said in October when the Access Hollywood video was revealed.

But Priebus had to temper his criticisms throughout the campaign, so he didn't suffer Trump's wrath - and the party didn't implode.

CNN, Fox News and the Wall Street Journal report that Priebus resigned privately Thursday.
